Pianist, singer, composer and musician of great sensitivity and artistic spontaneity, Carolina Bubbico.is performing since 2011 when she releases the original solo project "One girl band", In this project she plays several instruments, transforming and shaping sounds, words and music and thus creating a magnificent rhythmic vitality. Her evocative voice, the result not only of her natural qualities, but also of challenging studies, moves the listener thanks to her charisma. After working as a soloist, two popular Apulian musicians join Carolina: the bassist Luca Alemanno and the drummer Dario Congedo. The result is her first album  "Controvento", released in 2013 (Workin' Label / Goodfellas), containing nine original songs composed and arranged in an absolutely personal style that echo back various genres such as  jazz, funk, world and dream pop. Her music creates an imaginary pay of sounds animated by a powerful rhythmic vitality and an original use of the voice. With her crystalline timbre, Carolina carries out her own lyrics in a spontaneous way. Her music expresses a desire for changing and celebrates her enthusiasm for life.

In 2015 she holds the prestigious role of arranger and orchestra conductor at the Sanremo Festival, (one of the most important Italian music competitions) for the band Il Volo, winners of the “Big” category, and the singer Serena Brancale one of the voices of the “Young” one.

in collaborazione con
MUSTinTIME

"La Cantiga de la Serena" is a project aimed at recovering and reworking of the ancient music of the Mediterranean basin, a true cultural bridge between East and West. The repertoire is based on the recovery of ancient Sephardic cantigas, coplas and romances  - expression of the culture and traditions of Spanish Jews (victims of the exile from Spain and Portugal at the end of the fifteenth century) and Christian songs of pilgrimage and devotion (Cantigas de Santa Maria). A trip into the Jewish-Sephardic music, that in his millennial pilgrimage along the Mediterranean coast has hosted in itself the Celtic influences of Spanish Galicia and Portugal, the charming and hypnotic rhythms of the Berber nomads, the refined improvisational technique of Islamic maqam, the odd times of the Greek and Balkan music; the journey of pilgrims who went to the Monastery of Montserrat and during the vigil nights in Church, sang and danced simple Spanish folk melodies mixed with the complex and elegant music coming from Italian and French techniques.
An important example of how different cultures and religions can live together peacefully and survive the centuries through the musical experience, and at the same time the testimony of an era in which the musical traditions from different peoples mingled and enriched each other in a natural way, in everyday life. The project includes the execution of such repertoire through the free expression of the musicians' way of feeling and filter this tradition, with the use of musical instruments belonging to different musical cultures, through a performance that leaves plenty of room for improvisation moments.

REDI HASA E MIRKO SIGNORILE

CONTEMPORARY / CLASSIC / IMPROVISED MUSIC

REDI HASA
cello

MIRKO SIGNORILE piano

An artistic synergy between two excellences in music: Redi Hasa, considered as one of the most creative cellist in the Adriatic music area, and the refined and eclectic pianist Mirko Signorile. The duo is recently born from the mutual recognition of an expressive affinity and a the same time, from the difference of their individual path, with the common aspiration to produce new music together. Their performance, characterised by the improvisation as research of the musical becoming and an exploration from the chaos to the order of the pure melody, drives the listener in a strong evocative atmosphere, full of colours and unexpected sounds. The duo is working at the creation of a first record project, a summary of their musical research.

Mirko Signorile, Italian pianist born in 1974. He has been active for many years on the Italian jazz scene both as leader and sideman. Over the years, he played with Dave Liebman, Greg Osby, Coung Vu, Enrico Rava, Paolo Fresu, David Binney, Gianluca Petrella, Fabrizio Bosso, Gaetano Partipilo, Roberto Ottaviano, Davide Viterbo. His activity also embraces other arts such as cinema, theatre and contemporary dance. He published six albums: "In full life" (Soul Note 2003), "The Magic Circle" (Soul Note 2005) and "Hourglass" (Emarcy / Universal 2009) that received a great consent of public and criticism (best album "Argon Jazz") and the prestigious Italian Jazz Awards 2010 in the section "Best Jazz Act." In 2009 and in 2012 he recorded with the singer Giovanna Carone "Betàm Soul" and "Far Libe", two recordings (Digressione Music)  dedicated to the Yiddish music. "Magnolia" (Auand Records "Plain Series") has been published in November 30th 2012. In Spring he recorded his first piano solo cd 2015 "Soundtrack Cinema" that includes original compositions and free interpretations of famous soundtracks. In May 2016 he published a new elettro-jazz cd realised with Mark Messina (99posse) called "Banaba" (Auand Records). Official site

Redi Hasa is the most creative cellist in the Adriatic area music between the Italian and Balkan coasts. Pillar of the group Bandadriatica, and close collaborator of Ludovico Einaudi, Redi builds on his cello an " instrumental polyphony" with folk tones revising the tradition.

Born in Tirana in 1977, he begins his studies very early at the Virtuos School of music and then at the Academy of Arts of Tirana where he graduated in the 1998. The same year he won a scholarship at the Conservatory “Tito Schipa” in Lecce where he achieved the diploma few years later.

He collaborated with Shop Zoè, Xanti Yaca, Salento Orchestra, Manigold, Adria, BandAdriatica, Admir Shkurtaj Trio, "The Italian Popular orchestra" and with artists such as King Naat Veliov, Kocani Orkestra, Ambrogio Sparagna, Claudio Prima, Emanuele Coluccia, Eva Quartet, Enza Pagliara. The partnership with the singer Maria Mazzotta gave rise to the cd "Ura" (Finis Terrae 2014) that brings to light the possible relationship between the Adriatic repertoires through the Balkans and the carpathians music with the regions of Southern Italy.

Currently he is in tour as soloist of Ludovico Einaudi's ensemble. More

Something to Do on Sunday - Matteo Cona

cover_matteo-cona_ridFROM FEBRUARY 20 IN RECORDS STORES
© Workin’ Label 2017/ I.R.D distribution

Something to do on Sunday is the second album released by Matteo Cona, a Roman guitarist and composer.
The track list is made of 10 original tracks Matteo composed that tell stories of people and their different ways of enjoying free time. The album analyses our “day off”, a time for us to take care of ourselves by expressing our individuality while avoiding dogma stipulated by media and escaping the idea of having to be socially accepted. However, Sunday, considered as the he most renown day off, can become a double-edged sword for those who lack personal balance or healthy social relationships, and could lead to emphasising feelings of discomfort and futility. The album’s musical study tries to evade from post-bop jazz clichés, while attempting to embrace the great compositional and melodical jazz innovations. The style is undeniably influenced by musicians such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, who incessantly experiments between jazz and rock with a strong lyricism, and Kenny Wheeler who inspires wide-ranging compositions and a constant research of a silver thread that shines through every verse. The strength of the sound is accomplished also thanks to the contribution of musicians who have collaborated to the recordings: the saxophonist Augusto Pallocca, a kind of Jan Garbarek 2.0, the keyboardist Carlo Ferro, also involved in covering the synth bass role that brings the sounds closer to the American new wave neosoul and lastly, the exceptional technique of the drummer Sergio Tentella, known for his experimentations in electronical polyrythmic groove.

UMBERTO TRICCA "MOKSHA PULSE"

moksha live 4 cut

JAZZ / CONTEMPORARY / IMPROVISED

Umberto Tricca guitar
Achille Succi alto sax, bass clarinet
Giacomo Petrucci baritone sax
Nazareno Caputo vibraphone
Ferdinando Romano double bass
Bernardo Guerra drums

Moksha pulse is a project of the guitarist and composer Umberto Tricca. It was the fascination towards Indian music, involvement of rhythmic aspects, the counterpoint of the afro-cuban rumba and the interest in the sonority of contemporary music that inspired his work.
The name of the project is taken from the Sanscrit word Moksha, which means the emancipation. It emphasizes the composition choice, the necessity of staying away from any predetermined structure in the way of searching and developing all the possible interactions between those traditions, those apparently various musical languages with the paths of contemporary jazz.
Tricca puts together a sextet of the significant protagonists of the Italian jazz scene – the saxophonists Achille Succi and Giacomo Petrucci, the vibraphonist Nazareno Caputo, the double bass player Ferdinando Romano and the drummer Bernardo Guerra – the formation which represents not only the aesthetic adherence to the poetry, to the writing of Moksha pulse, but also promises the visionary creativity which is essential for bringing out the free spaces, the abstract atmospheres as well as for specifying the particular collective research of the sound of the whole work.

In 2016 the debute album ‘‘Moksha pulse‘‘ (Workin‘ Label/I.R.D.) was released. It includes 7 original pieces except for ‘‘Lude‘‘ by Vijay Iyer. The record was highly reviewed – received the label Jazzit Likes it, was recommended among the 100 Greatest Jazz Album in the Jazzit Awards 2016  and it can be found more times in the playlist of the program "Battiti" on the Rai3 Rai. Their live concert at Sala del Rosso" in Florence was entirely broadcasted on Radio3 Suite Jazz.
Moksha Pulse
presents itself undoubtedly as one of the highpoints of the contemporary jazz in the national and international meaning. A project, ‘‘worthy of full attention‘‘ (Alberto Bazzuro on Musica Jazz).

“Moksha Pulse” is a record that sprinkles the intelect, where the six protagonists don’t follow slavishly the canonic plot, but they let themselves to get carried away by their instinct, inspiration and creativity so the magic of music pervades them. Stefano Dentice on Soundcontest

Umberto Tricca was born in 1973. He studied jazz guitar in Milan at the “Cemm” school directed by Walter Donatiello and Berklee’s School teachers. Over the years he studied jazz harmony, composition and arrangement with Giovanni Tommaso, Giancarlo Boselli, Stephen Franceschini, Tomaso Lama, John Abercrombie, David Linx and Paul Fresu at Nuoro Jazz. He shared his research and study of contemporary artists such as Dave Holland and Steve Coleman with some musicians of the the Florentine scene, examinating harmony and rhythmic aspects.
He took part in different musical projects: The dotters (Claudio Giovagnoli, Peter Spitilli, Stephen Tamborrino) in which he faced the contemporary jazz repertoire; A.G.U.A (Arianna Bucossi, Gabriele Ungar Ramps, Andrew Lovo, Damiano Niccolini) exploring  Samba and Bossanova. At the same time he approached Indian music with the Saptak Indian association of Nihar Metha in collaboration with the tabla player Francis Gherardi. In 2012 he founded the Open Baaj quintet exploring sounds that join the Indian classical music to the western contemporary one. In 2015 he achieved the Second Level Degree in jazz Music at the National Conservatory "Luigi Cherubini" in Florence under the guide of Riccardo Fassi, Barend Middelhoff, Sandro Satta and Umberto Fiorentino with a thesis on the composer Steve Lehman.
In october 2016 he released the debut album of his new project "Moksha pulse" arisen from the fascination that Indian music holds for him, together with his involvement in rhythm issues, the Afro-Cuban rumba counterpoint and his interest for the sound of Contemporary Classic Music.
